Scandal emissions: Volkswagen will recall 323,700 vehicles in India

Volkswagen India said Tuesday he would call 323 700 vehicles in the scandal emissions of its diesel engines.
Volkswagen is struggling in the scandal since September when the company admitted that more than 11 million vehicles worldwide were equipped with software to cheat on anti-pollution tests.
"Volkswagen Group India announced a voluntary recall to reset the standards for all vehicles with engine type EA 189 in the Indian market," says the brand in a statement.
"Nearly 323,700 Volkswagen brand vehicles, Skoda and Audi in India are equipped with diesel engines type EA 189," said the company, adding that software such vehicles will be brought up to standard.
It states having submitted his "observations, conclusions and recommendations for solutions" for diesel engines to the Indian government agency Automative Research Association of India (ARAI).
Volkswagen will launch a recall plan once it has obtained the approval of that authority.
The manufacturer "is maintaining its planned investments (in India) as well as its plans for production and launch," also said the statement.
Volkswagen India has two plants in the state of Maharashtra (west), with a production capacity of over 200,000 vehicles per year.
